Weekend Fly Fishing Report 2/15/2012

Big Utah Brown Trout

This weeks report is coming straight from fellow anglers that have sent me reports over the past week. Keep um coming!

1. Green River- Dude Travis, the Green is on fire! Few buddies and I spent the past 3 days up on the A. Fishing was slower in the mornings, but as the temp heated up and the midges started hatching, the fish turned on and the top water fishing was amazing. We stayed most of the days in the upper 3 miles fishing midges. Then pushed the last 4 with streamers. Ginger and Black were the colors of choice for us. When can you get up here next?

2. Middle Provo River- Fished the Middle Provo a couple times this past week. Have you been up there lately? I was only planning on taking one day off work, but the fishing was so great that my flu got even worst and I had to miss another day of work. (I know u know how that goes)The midges are eveywhere and there are so many fish in this river that it makes it pretty easy to find a pod of risers. I fished with #22 astro midge and a #20 midge emerger most of the day, but if they got a little picky I tried an #20 orange asher like you suggested and it worked especially when the hatch was really thick and I needed my bug to stick out. Thanks guys, can’t wait for the next river clean up…Jesse

3. Utah Lake Tributaries- Looking to find a new carp hole and found some white bass and bluegill. Where do you like to go Travis? Utah Lake is so close and its a fun place to take my kids. We fished it last week with the boat and not only was the weather perfect the fishing wasn’t half bad. We tried little streamers in bright colors and tried to site fish for carp with small nymphs, but they didn’t like our offering. Since you apparently grew up on UL and its like your backyard, I’d love to learn more about what you do and how you catch all those big bass and carp. Thanks Travis-love the club…steve
